FIELD: petrochemistry. SUBSTANCE: method comprises reacting C_4-7 isoolefins of olefin hydrocarbon stock with alkanol in the presence of first catalyst in at least one reaction zone reaction mixture containing tertiary alkyl ether or mixture of tertiary ethers, feeding mixture into rectification column at point located between reaction bottom and top of column, distilling the reaction mixture in rectification column, removing alkyl ethers and C_5-7 hydrocarbons together with residual distillation product, withdrawing azeotrope formed by unreacted C₄- hydrocarbons and said alkanol as distillate distillation product, passing some flow of liquid from column above point where reaction mixture is added and forming the side flow and recirculating said side flow into reaction zone.
