FIELD: testing of mechanical properties of metals and alloys. SUBSTANCE: method includes cooling and loading of specimen and determination of dependence of hardness from temperature. Hardness temperature dependence is described by formula: where is metal hardness at room temperature; β is coefficient of hardness temperature dependence; T is temperature, C; A is constant connected with β by relation A = -4•103+3,3•105•β.. Then coefficient of temperature dependence β and brittleness critical temperature are determined.
