SUBSTANCE: sample is cooled, loaded, steepness of temperature dependence is calculated as tangent of inclination of HB to axis of temperatures. Degree of steepness of this dependence is used for determination of critical temperature of brittleness which is found by dependence lnTCR= K1lnα+K2,, where TCR is critical temperature of brittleness; α is tangent of inclination angle of temperature dependence of hardness in coordinates lnHB-T; HB is Brinell hardness; Κ1 and Κ2 are coefficients found experimentally for each class of metals and alloys.
