FIELD: manufacture of articles for metal pouring, particularly, slide gate plates providing for multiple metal pouring by ecologically safe methods. SUBSTANCE: method includes preparation of mixture of combined milling of magnesium oxide and aluminum powder and/or silicon in ratio of (95:5)-(70: 30). Then, mixtures of the following composition are prepared, wt.%: magnesium oxide of 2-0.5 mm fraction 30-50; magnesium oxide of 0.5-0 mm fraction 12-25; graphite 3-8; mixture of combined milling of magnesium oxide and aluminum powder and/or silicon and temporary binder 2-5 wt/% above 100%. Components are loaded into mixer in the following sequence: magnesium oxide of 2-0.5 mm fraction, one half of temporary binder, graphite and magnesium oxide of 0.5-0 mm fraction, remained binder, mixture of combined milling of magnesium oxide and aluminum powder and/or silicon. Formed articles are dried to residual humidity of not in excess of 0.5%, burned at temperature not below 1400 C in reactivity medium for, at least, 4 h. Rate of temperature elevation within interval of 900-1400 C is, at least, 20 C/h with, at least, one holding for, at least, 0.5 h. EFFECT: reduced minimal temperature of burning to 1400 C and provided optimal pore structure of produced refractories. 1 tbl
