FIELD: coal industry; applicable in underground mining of coal deposits with seam working by long breakage faces with use of powered face supports. SUBSTANCE: roofing of powered support includes main body with sockets for props in middle part and with holes for connection at face end of main body of turning body with cantilevered canopy secured thereto. Length of turning body is equal to step of support advance. Turning body is installed for turning with respect to main body through angle of at, least, 135 deg from horizontal position to position downward and to side of caving with help of balance beam connected with separate rocking lever moved by ram for locking the turning body relative to main body in front position in plane of main body due to installation of balancing beam and rocking lever at angle of 180 deg to each other. Method of supporting and roof control in breakage face includes successive supporting of roof and breast in wake of combine advance in which turning roofing with cantilevered canopy is changed over from working position at breast to rear position towards caving side for passage of combine. Then, turning body turns upward and cantilevered canopy is turned towards face to support roof strip and upper band of face without relieving of main part of support unit in zone of coal breakage. Then, from central control panel located on drift, without presence of people in breakage face, conveyer flight is advanced and alternating relieving of one third of all support units and their advance towards face are performed without leaving passage before face props and all turning bodies and cantilevered canopies are simultaneously lowered and pressed to breast with supporting of local roof falls sizing up to two combined webs. In case of mining interruption, roof support is preserved with width of supporting space narrower for one web than that practiced in known complexes. EFFECT: higher resistance of support without increase of specific quantity of metal, increased rate of supporting operations with universal application and considerable increase of range of seam extracted thickness. 2 cl, 2 dwg
