FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: process of piston casting comes to the following: first container with die is installed and preliminarily prepared insert is placed in die, then metered out amount of molten aluminium alloy is filled and pressure is applied with keeping the pressure over entire period of alloy crystallization. Application of pressure to molten metal plane is done by primary axial displacement of stripper with punch, and only after contact of stripper and die, pressure is applied by axial displacement of knock-out tool. Value of pressure applied to molten metal depends on liter capacity of engine. Proposed invention provides high efficiency process of piston making with coordination of processing operations and their sequence and characteristics of particular type of engine for which the piston is designed.
