FIELD: food-processing industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves treating food seeds with 0.0003-0.0025% aqueous solution of potassium permanganate; filling 1/4 of vessel volume with mentioned aqueous solution, adding water and incubating under water layer for 10-12 hours; covering vessel throat with netted hygroscopic material (cotton fabric, gauze, sheet porolone); upon termination of seed incubation process, pouring out water, overturning vessel and arranging in inclined position in tray filled with water which permanently wets netted material during swelled seed incubation process in overturned vessel; maintaining incubation process till seed sprouting; holding produced germs in refrigerator for 6-10 days. Produced germs may be regularly used in raw state as food product. Method allows food germs to be produced from different kinds of seeds under general-purpose conditions.
