FIELD: production of liquid coagulant - aluminum sulfate. SUBSTANCE: aluminum hydroxide interacts with sulfuric acid and melt thus obtained is diluted with water. Interaction of aluminum hydroxide is effected with sulfuric acid taken in the amount of 95 to 97% of stoichiometry at temperature of 115 to 120 C continued for 20 to 35 min in reactor consisting of two parts: lower part at diameter-to- height ratio of 0.5 to 0.6 and upper part at diameter-to-height ratio of 2.0 to 2.2. Interaction of aluminum hydroxide with sulfuric acid is performed at mixing with the aid of propeller stirrer working at 50 to 70 revolutions per minute and live steam at pressure of 2 to 3 atm. Sulfate melt thus formed is diluted at ratio of melt and water of 1.0 : 1.3 - 1.6 till solution of concentration of Al2O3 equal to 7.2% is obtained.
