FIELD: inorganic compounds technology and nonferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in production of coagulant, in particular aluminum sulfate or mixed aluminum/iron sulfate, from melt formed by interaction of aluminum hydroxide, alumina production waste (thermoactivated aluminum hydroxide, fine aluminum hydroxide forms, and the like), and naturally occurring types of aluminum-containing raw materials (kaolin clays, bauxites, alunites, and the like) with sulfuric acid. Substance of proposed method consists in crystallization of aluminum sulfate or aluminum/iron sulfate melt on belt conveyer moving with velocity 1.0-3.0 m/min, thickness of layer being 10-40 mm and on-belt residence time 10-40 min. Melt is cooled by air at temperature 10-30оС and directed at an angle 45-90о toward movement of melt in amount 900-2000 m3 per 1 t finished produce. Solidified product is removed from the belt of crystallizer by bending belt of actuating drum and transferred to finished produce storehouse using distributor or worm.
EFFECT: increased crystallization rate by 2-3 times, reduced mechanical losses to 1%, and enabled production of high-quality product in the form of scales 10-30 mm in size.
