SOFA-BED Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: furniture production. SUBSTANCE: sofa-bed has base, sides with upholstered arm rests, back with cavity, conversion mechanism with two sections and head rest, upholstered mattress, back cushion and seat cushion. Back cushion with framed base is movable upward along slides fixed on back front side to define space for opening of seat sections, or is movable downward so as to adhere tightly to seat, when sofa-bed is in "sofa" position. In back cavity are mounted back cushion lifting mechanism and spiral springs facilitating ready displacement and fixation of back cushion in upper and lower position. Back cushion has profiled projections for closing seat side cavities, where conversion mechanism units are disposed. Sofa-bed of such construction may be used as home furniture and as additional sleeping place in hotel or boarding house rooms. EFFECT: simplified conversion of sofa into bed, improved comfort and aesthetic appearance. 4 cl, 4 dwg
