RAMAN FIBER LASER Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

Abstract RU 2158458 C1

FIELD: laser engineering; pumping optical amplifiers for broad-band fiber-optic communication systems. SUBSTANCE: laser built around phosphor-silicate light conductor has pump radiation source 1, phosphor-silicate light conductor section 2, and at least two pairs of Bragg gratings that function as mirrors 3, 4; each pair of Bragg gratings constitutes optical resonator; energy transfer between resonators is effected due to forced Raman dissipation both at comparatively high-frequency intermolecular oscillations associated with phosphor oxide in light conductor (frequency difference for such resonators is chosen between 1305 and 1355 cm-1) and at rather low-frequency oscillations occurring due to silicate matrix of light conductor (frequency shift between such resonators is chosen between 50 and 560 cm-1). So, laser provides for more effective conversion of pumping radiation into predetermined arbitrary wavelength radiation ranging between pumping wavelength and 1.8 mcm. EFFECT: improved performance of laser. 6 cl, 6 dwg
