VERTICAL BAND SAW Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: wood-sawing industry. SUBSTANCE: band saw has framework 1, two sawing frames 2, conveyer 3, mechanism which moves sawing frames relative to conveyer 3, and electric drives 4. Each sawing frame 2 carries driving 5 and driven 6 pulleys on which saw blade 7 is mounted. Sawing frame moving mechanism includes upper and lower assemblies of moving sawing frames 2 in horizontal plane. Each assembly contains cylindrical column 8 mounted on framework 1 for rotation and coupled to sawing frames 2, hollow screw 10 with left- and right hand thread mounted immovably on center of column 8 coaxially with the latter and fixed by means of pin 11. Assembly also includes two flange bushings 12 one of which has left-hand internal thread and the other, right-hand internal thread. External surface of hollow screws 10 is provided with thrust ridge 13 on its center which is introduced into fork 14 for sliding. Fork is positioned vertically in plane of motion axis of conveyer 3 and is fixed to framework 1. Column 8 of lower motion assembly is fitted with hand drive 15. Band saw ensures high accuracy of setting of saw blades in symmetry with log feed mechanism. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 2 cl, 1 dwg
