FIELD: engine manufacture; internal-combustion engines, thermal units, and the like. SUBSTANCE: fuel treatment involves separation of its flow into components and their treatment with magnetic field near end surfaces of coaxially arranged annular permanent magnets. Fuel is treated in toroidal chamber abutting against first magnet and then its flow is separated into central and peripheral components in proportion of 20-25 and 75-80%; central component of fuel flow is treated with permanent field of minimal field strength set up by second permanent magnet and peripheral component is exposed to its field of maximal strength; fuel is then accumulated in inlet space of perforated substrate, flow is separated into jets which are treated with metal oxides by passing them through additional space filled with metal chips. Fuel treatment device has cylindrical case with inlet and outlet pipe unions, first and second annular permanent magnets, as viewed along flow path, arranged coaxially inside case, toroidal chamber, flow separator, perforated substrate screen with metal chips in-between; flow section area of separator central bore is smaller than total flow section area of its peripheral holes by three or four times. EFFECT: reduced toxicity of exhaust gases and improved fuel saving. 8 cl, 1 dwg
