FIELD: robotics, possibly calculation of shape of three-dimensional objects in robot vision systems. SUBSTANCE: shape of three-dimensional bodies is determined on base of gray-level vision information. Method comprises steps of calculating orientation of elemental areas according to brightness of surfaces formed with use of three prints of reference object and three photos of desired object. Orientation of elemental areas of desired object is determined according to condition that elemental areas with the same brightness in prints of target and reference objects have the same orientation. Calculated orientation of elemental areas allows to simulate plane vector fields used for determining cross sections of desired surface that is shape of visible part of surface of desired object may be calculated.
