FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: generalised, spectrozonal image in the red band of the visible range is obtained, having control industrial sites with known maximum allowable concentration values of the atmosphere. Image brightness pixels are calibrated based on the maximum allowable concentration values and relative pixel brightness of control sites. A programmed method is used to calculate local maxima on the calibrated image and the envelope of the Fourier spatial spectrum. Sampling points are identified with the detected maxima and the average distance r between sampling points and the volume of measurements V are determined.
