FIELD: neutral coated articles with low radiating power. SUBSTANCE: new neutral coated article includes transparent substrate with refraction index ranging from 1.5 to 1.6; the first intermediate layer applied to substrate; the second intermediate layer applied to the first intermediate layer; and upper metal oxide covering layer with refraction index equalling, at least, 1.86. Said first and second intermediate layers have different refraction indices. Neutral coated article is distinguished by the fact that: (a) the first intermediate layer is transparent covering layer containing mixture of metal oxide and silicon oxide formed by precipitation from vapor mixture containing silicon-containing precedent compound in concentration from 0.05 to 2.0 mole %; metal-containing precedent compound in concentration from 0.1 to 2.0 mole % includes oxygen-containing gas based on vapor mixture. In so doing, ratio of metal-containing precedent compound, silicon-containing precedent compound and oxygen-containing gas-is selected so as to ensure that the first intermediate layer has refraction index ranging about between 1.66 and 1.73 and its thickness, from about 4000 to 600 Angstrom; (b) the second intermediate layer is transparent covering layer containing mixture of metal oxide and silicon oxide formed by precipitation from vapor mixture containing silicon-containing precedent compound in concentration of 0.05-2.0 mole %, metal-containing precedent compound in concentration of 0.1-2.0 mole %, and the rest includes oxygen-containing gas based on vapor mixture. Ratio of metal-containing precedent compound, silicon-containing precedent compound and oxygen-containing gas is selected so as to ensure that the second intermediate layer has refraction index within interval of about 1.76-1.83 and thickness within about 350-550 Angstrom; (c) upper metal oxide covering layer has thickness, at least, 1600 Angstrom which is also sufficient for reduction of radiating power below radiating power of uncoated substrate. Method of neutral coated article is also described.
