FIELD: production of titanium dioxide for pigments and fillers. SUBSTANCE: plasma of oxygen or oxygen-containing gas is generated. Aluminum powder is introduced into liquid titanium tetrachloride; particles of aluminum powder have size up to 50 mkm. Thus, suspension of aluminium powder in titanium tetrachloride at mass concentration of 0.05 to 1% is obtained. Suspension is introduced into plasma at temperature of 2500 to 3000 C. Reaction products are cooled and separated. No less than 95% of titanium dioxide in rutile form is produced. Proposed method is suitable for titanium tetrachloride containing vanadium, silicon and niobium. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 1 tbl, 1 ex
