SUBSTANCE: porous composite metal-carbon catalyst carriers with significant volume of macro- and mesopores, developed specific surface, and total lack of micropores are prepared by forming modifying carbon layer on surface of macroporous metal matrix. Formation of carbon layer is caused by catalytic destruction of gaseous hydrocarbons at elevated temperature on inside and outside surfaces of porous metal matrix.
