FIELD: various fields of machine building. SUBSTANCE: described is friction composition comprising thermoreactive binder containing phenol-formaldehyde resin and rubber, fibrous filer, inert inorganic filler and inorganic powdery friction and wear modifiers. Fibrous filler is scaly metallic material crystallized at cooling rate of greater than 103 C/s with length-width- thickness ratio as 1-200:1-60:1 or combination thereof with mineral and glass fibers, ratios of components being as follows, wt %: thermoreactive binder, 15.0-25.0; inert inorganic filers, 10.0-30.0; scaly metallic material or combination thereof with mineral and glass fibers, 15.0-45.0. Inorganic powdery friction and wear modifiers, the balance up to 100. Composition comprises no carcinogenic asbestos and permits preparing triboindustrial products having stable friction coefficient within wide range of temperatures and high heat resistance that meet standard requirements for braking efficiency and higher wear resistance. EFFECT: improved properties of the friction composition. 1 dwg, 4 tbl
