FIELD: lubrication materials. SUBSTANCE: when preparing grease, as thickening agent, carbon black concentrate is used, which is prepared from motor oil preliminarily subjected to electrocracking followed by vacuum centrifugation to separate carbon black concentrate from purified oil. Gas products formed during electrocracking are used as process fuel to warm purified oil that is used as oil base to lower viscosity of spent motor oil before electrocracking stage and as heat carrier in reactor. Oil base is then mixed with thickening agent and resulting mixture is heated in reactor at specified rate prior to be dehydrated, cooled, homogenized, and deaerated to give commercial product. EFFECT: reduced expenses on raw materials, process fuel, and heat carrier. 1 dwg, 5 tbl
