FIELD: powder metallurgy, namely, manufacture of large-size semifinished products in the form of rod, square, hexagon, rectilinear bar, tube and other shapes of powder and age- hardened materials on base of nickel, copper, aluminium or other non-ferrous metals or their combinations and designed for making electrotechnical parts in machine engineering. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of preparing powder mixture at adding grease and getter, cold compaction, heat treatment and hot deformation by extrusion. Cold compaction and hot deformation stages are realized in horizontal hydraulic press. Powder mixture is poured into working sleeve of container of press with slope angle of pouring near 80 degrees. Cold compaction is performed with formation of thin film of foil on lateral surface of briquettes removed out of container. EFFECT: possibility for making elongated semifinished product with high physicomechanical properties and final products - with high quality operational properties. 3 cl, 2 tbl
