FIELD: jewelry industry. SUBSTANCE: an identification stamp is applied onto the facet of the diamond precious stone, the stamp is invisible by a naked eye, it is applied by irradiation by ultraviolet laser, having a wavelength shorter than 400 nm, jointly with a mask for irradiation of the stone surface by a flux lesser than 3 J/sq.cm per pulse. The area to be irradiated is subjected to the influence of at least 100 pulses in the presence of a reagent, which interacts with the diamond and causes formation of the stamp. The stamp is formed without essential darkening and reduction of the degree of diamond finish. EFFECT: enhanced quality. 20 cl, 3 dwg, 2 ex
