FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: rubber solution is applied on metal surface of friction unit, solvent is then removed upon drying in natural conditions, and rubber is finally vulcanized under laser radiation. Method is distinguished by that rubber is vinylidene difluoride/trfluorochloroethylene copolymer, solvent is acetone/methyl ethyl ketone (1.5-1): 1 mixture, laser emission frequency coincides with characteristic oscillation frequencies of chemical bonds in rubber, emission power density equals 300-400 W/sq.m, laser action time lies between 4 and 6 min, and thickness of applied polymer layer is determined from relationship: h = k.λ. p+RZ, in which k is a coefficient depending on relation d/L, d is diameter of machine part, L length of contacting surfaces, λ = μ.Vε/Flin is a friction unit operation mode characteristic, μ dynamic viscosity of coating material, Vε sliding velocity, Flin linear load, p normalized curvature radius, and RZ height of microirregularities of surface. EFFECT: increased wear resistance of parts. 2 cl, 5 tbl, 4 ex
