FIELD: fiber-optical communication systems. SUBSTANCE: device includes light guide placed longitudinally on planar substrate that has core, locating part for optical fiber of specified length positioned longitudinally on planar substrate and cavity located between locating part and core of light guide filled with material. Irradiation of material with ultraviolet radiation leads to growth of refractive index of hardened part in comparison with that of unhardened part and results in formation of expanded light guide. Proposed process provides for reduced losses for joining of optical fiber with light guide in case of horizontal displacement. In process of matching operation of cutting of optical fiber is carried out on locating part near light guide simultaneously with polishing of cross-sections of fiber and light guide.
