BAND-TYPE PRESS-FILTER FOR SLIME AND SLUDGE DEWATERING Russian patent published in 2001 - IPC

FIELD: purification of sewage waters from slims and sludge accumulated in operation of household and industrial objects. SUBSTANCE: press-filter has frame accommodating many shafts of different type-sizes. Passed between shafts are two endless belt sieves of lower and upper location. Shafts rotate by means of power shaft and two drive shafts provided with mechanical drive. Belt sieves are tensioned by intermediate shafts located in movable supports with the help of hydraulic drive. Belt sieves are combined and rolled out by several shafts in zone on preliminary pressing without squeezing and then as motion proceeds, shafts are squeezed in zone of low pressure. Zone of high pressure of slime pressing extends to other squeezing shafts. Maximum pressure values are determined on drive shafts. Squeezing shafts external surface is globoid in shape with chamber up to 5 mm. The first shaft is made with through external surface comprised of 12-18 metal rods of arbitrary profile bent from shaft middle to their ends similar to type of herringbone gear. Herringbone location of rods directs shift to slime to middle of belt sieve and simultaneously prevents run-off of belt sieves along shaft. On the second squeezing globoid shaft reverse redistribution of slime layer takes place under force of uniform compression of slime by belt sieves on smooth surface of shaft. Liquid slime located between belt sieves undergoes continuous stirring with intensive separation of water and its squeezing out through sieves on shafts.
