FIELD: road building; hard-surface roads and air fields; investigation of traffic accidents. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes determination of coefficient of friction between loaded wheel and pavement at moment of changing from standstill to skidding. For this purpose additional load is applied to wheel tangentially to its rim and is increased till skidding starts. Tire-gripping properties of hard- surface road is judged basing on relationship of additional and main loads. EFFECT: improved accuracy and reliability of evaluation of tire- gripping properties of hard-surface road. 2 cl, 5 dwg
