FIELD: road building. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for evaluation of adhesion qualities of hard-surface roads, both under construction and in operation, and air fields. It can be used at investigation of road accidents. Proposed method includes loading of tire simulator with vertical force, positive displacement of tire simulator under action of horizontal force applied through resilient member, measuring friction force with subsequent determination of relationship between friction force and vertical force. Novelty is that tire simulator is displaced positively at constant speed not exceeding 20 mm/min after which positive displacement is stopped and friction force is measured only after termination of self-running of tire simulator. EFFECT: improved accuracy of evaluation of road adhesion qualities owing to determination of static friction coefficient as coefficient of wheel-to-road adhesion. 3 cl, 2 dwg
