FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has frame accommodating compression chamber with upper and lower sections. One of sections has inlet device for directing root mass into compression chamber. Upper and lower sections are positioned for displacement one relative to the other and to compression chamber. Compressed bale is wrapped in flexible plastic thin film. Inlet device is made in the form of hydraulically controlled gate pivotally mounted on upper cut of upper section of compression chamber. Gate is equipped with licorice root mass feeder having pack of movable bars whose working parts are mounted in gate guides. Apparatus provides increased density of compressed mass in bale, wrapping of rectangular bale in air and water-impermeable material and binding of bale along its perimeter with binding material.
