FIELD: agriculture, harvesting and winding of hay, bast and like plants. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has shaft, two feeding mechanisms mounted on shaft and equipped with driving and pressing rollers, thread guide and cord cutting mechanism. Each feeding mechanism is spring-biased to rigidly fixed stops. Signalling device is mounted on one of stops so that it may be engaged with feeding mechanism. Lever is rigidly attached to shaft end and is coupled through adjustable tie-rod to roll sizing mechanism. Driving rollers are actuated by roll forming belts. As plant mass is delivered, roll sizing mechanism is driven to actuate lever through tie-rod for displacement to roll forming belts. Adjustable tie-rod is set for predetermined size of roll diameter. Upon actuation of driving rollers with cord, stop with signalling device continues its motion and comes into contact with plant mass fed by plant mass feeding mechanism. Signal is generated and supplied to operator's cabin to stop harvesting process and initiate roll winding. Then roll sizing mechanism is deflected to cord cutting and roll ejecting position. Winding apparatus of such construction is used in hay and bast crop harvesting machines.
