SUBSTANCE: described is improved method of preparing 10- methylenecarboxylate-9-acridone or 10-methylenecarboxy-9-acridone intended for synthesis of medicinal substances or medicinal forms useful in medical and veterinary practice as antiviral agent. Sodium 10-methylenecarboxylate-9- acridone or 10-methylenecarboxy-9-acridone is prepared or 10-methylenecarboxy-9- acridone is prepared by alkylation of acridone with ethylchloro acetate in the presence of sodium or potassium carbonates under conditions that enable one to prepare industrial ether of 10-methylene carboxy-9-acridone with high yield and high content of main substance and to convert it into desired products of high purity by alkaline hydrolysis and isolation of original product.
