FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of synthesis L-carnosine esters and their salts. Method involves interaction of L-carnosine with a lower alcohol in an anhydrous medium of the corresponding alcohol in cooling in the presence of an acidic catalyst followed by isolation and purification of the end substance. All stages are carried out under atmosphere of inert gas using thionyl chloride, hydrogen chloride or sulfuric acid as an acidic catalyst. Method ensures to synthesize the end substances that show high biological activity and enhanced hydrophobicity as compared with that of L-carnosine and the stable yield using carnosine of any origin.
