FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves determining diastolic end volume of the left ventricle by performing two- dimensional left ventricle echocardiography. Body surface area is determined and diastolic end volume/body surface area ratio is calculated. The so obtained index is compared to an empiric scale built from values describing lesser blood circulation path anatomy, lung blood circulation volume, and the degree the cardiac insufficiency is marked. The index value being greater than 22 ml/m2, radical operation treatment is selected. The value being less than 22 ml/m2, palliative approach is selected. EFFECT: excluded ineffective operations.
