FIELD: fiber optics. SUBSTANCE: method involves cutting semi-circular slots, 1-2 mm deep, on outer surface of cylindrical blank, placing the latter in first quartz conduit, fusing first conduit with blank, etching internal holes of blank in etching solution for the first time, installing loaded rods in internal holes of blank, fusing them with blank to form solid cylindrical rod, and drawing out optical fiber. Prior to cutting the slots two diametrically opposite sides of blank are subjected to surface grinding throughout entire length of blank with planar surface width being 1-2 mm and with equal distance maintained between grinding surface and center of light conductor at blank ends. First etching is effected to bring diameter of internal holes to 2-2.5 mm whereupon blank is stretched to diameter smaller than or equal to 9.7 mm. Then blank is etched for the second time to diameter smaller than or equal to 3 mm. Solid cylindrical rod is placed in second quartz conduit. EFFECT: facilitated manufacture; reduced cost. 12 dwg
