SUBSTANCE: the invention is pertaining to the field of the fiber optics and may be used in the fiber communication links, and also in the fiber sensors of the physical quantities. The technical problem of the present invention is improvement of the polarization and operational characteristics of the single-mode fiber light guide, and also the increased efficiency of the glass fiber drawing-out. The billet has the cut grooves with the width "h" and the depth dg, at that h ≤ dg. At that the through holes which have been formed in the billet after the source billet fiber fusion splicing with the support quartz tubes are used as the guiding holes for the tool making the drilling operations and polishing of the round holes. Then the billet with the inserted load-applying rods before the single-mode fiber light guide drawing-out is redrawn into the billet of the smaller diameter with its simultaneous fusion with the load-applying rods.
EFFECT: the invention ensures improvement of the polarization and operational characteristics of the single-mode fiber light guide, the increased efficiency of the glass fiber drawing-out.
