FIELD: fiber optics.
SUBSTANCE: method can be used at fiber communication lines and physical fiber detectors. Initial blank is made which has light-guiding wire, reflecting envelope and external protecting envelope made of pure crystal glass. Two slots are cut along the whole length of blank at its diametrically opposed sides. Initial blank is fused together with first quartz pie and through holes are etched till achieving holes with diameter of 1,5-2 mm. Then the blank is constricted again till achieving diameter DM which can be determined by specific dependence and constricted blank is repeatedly fused together with second quartz pipe. Through holes are etched in the blank and light guide is pulled out of it. According to the second version of the method, blank is fused together with quartz pipe during one procedure. Optical power loss is reduced at the points of conjunction of light guides which preserve linear state of polarization of optical radiation. Maximal factor of polarization extinction and minimal loss of channeled polarization mode is provided in single-polarized light guides.
EFFECT: improved efficiency of operation.
