FIELD: removal of potentially detrimental materials from reactor circuit. SUBSTANCE: method involves mercury absorption on ion-exchange resins. Steam-gas mixture heated to at least 200 C is extracted from circuit of shut-down reactor where coolant temperature is 200-250 C, steam is condensed, and steam condensate as well as non-condensing gases are passed through electron-exchange ion exchanger. Rate of mercury outlet from circuit is maintained equal to that of mercury feed to steam-gas medium from coolant. EFFECT: reduced probability of emergency situations; improved safety of process. 2 cl, 2 dwg
