SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of removal of heat carriers of nuclear power plants (NPP) potentially hazardous substances, particularly mercury. Method of removing mercury from first coolant water heat carrier includes output circuit of steam-gas mixture of heat carrier of first circuit without cooling reactor at temperature up to 300°C, followed by purification of heat carrier from mercury on mineral heat resistant sorbent modified with silver, non-condensing vapor-gas mix of heat carrier at temperature of 200-300°C.

EFFECT: high efficiency of heat carrier and simple technique of removing mercury.
