FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves showing light flickers to a testee with variable frequency. At the first stage, the light flickers are shown to the testee under frequency increasing at a rate of 20 Hz/s The testee determines suprathreshold value of the critical light flicker frequency. At the second stage, the frequency is reduced by 5 Hz and the light flickers are shown to the testee under frequency increasing at a rate of 1 Hz/s until the testee determines suprathreshold value of the critical light flicker frequency. At the third stage, the frequency is reduced by 5 Hz and the light flickers are shown to the testee under frequency reducing at a rate of 1 Hz/s and the testee determines the second suprathreshold value of the critical light flicker frequency. The real critical light flicker frequency is determined as arithmetical mean value of the measurement results obtained at the second and the third stage. EFFECT: reduced visual analyzer fatigue; accelerated measurement process.
