FIELD: construction of horizontal geographic system of coordinates, predominantly on land mobile objects. SUBSTANCE: tilt angle of object in plane in which principal axis of gyroscopic sensitive element is located and steps of change of instrument course are measured while determining course angle of object in process of reduction of principal axis of gyroscopic element to specified direction. Tilt angle of object in plane in which internal axis of gimbal suspension is positioned is computed on basis of taken measurement. After reduction of principal axis of gyroscopic sensitive element to specified direction angle of instrument course, tilt angle of object in plane in which principal axis of gyroscopic sensitive element is located and course angle of object in plane of horizon are measured. System of course indication has gyroscopic platform installed in two-axes gimbal suspension, gyroscopic sensitive element which principal axis is perpendicular to internal axis of gimbal suspension, horizon scanner whose sensitivity axis is parallel to principal axis, unit controlling precision motion of gyroscopic sensitive element, unit generating course angle and tilt angles of object, unit generating tilt angle of internal axis of gimbal suspension. EFFECT: raised precision of determination of course of object in plane of horizon, simplified design of system and decreased cost of manufacture of gyro- horizon compass. 7 cl, 2 dwg
