SUBSTANCE: root cutting tool has U-shaped cutting knife with cutting edges at front part and undercut soil layer lifters positioned on part remote from horizontal blade of cutting tool. Horizontal blade is equipped with chisels positioned at curved portion junction places inclined in direction of movement of cutting knife sides. Chisels, sides, horizontal blade and lifters are fabricated from constructional steel of different qualities. Lifters equipped with retainers are inserted into longitudinal slots in horizontal blade. EFFECT: increased efficiency by reduced draft resistance of machine, improved quality of licorice raw material and reduced operating and maintenance costs. 5 cl, 10 dwg
