FIELD: methods of magnetic separation of suspensions in ceramic, porcelain-faience, metallurgical, mineral concentration, food and other industries for withdrawal from liquid media of magnetic-susceptible inclusions. SUBSTANCE: method includes filtering of suspension at preset rate through layer of magnetized granulated packing made in the form of spiral members. Packing density is preset by selection of sizes of spiral members depending on filtering rate and suspension viscosity with preset purification efficiency. Magnetic filter for embodiment of claimed method has magnetizing system from permanent magnets. Located between poles of permanent magnet system is said packing enclosed in perforated holder. Packing may be loosened during its regeneration. EFFECT: higher quality of separation due to increased extent of effective zone of settling in spiral packing. 6 cl, 3 dwg
