FIELD: industrial organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: invention, in particular, relates to steam conversion of dimethyl ether to give hydrogen-enriched gas mixture that can be used as it is in hydrogen power engineering. Invention aims at developing new catalytic system exhibiting high catalytic activity, selectivity, and catalytic stability and also at developing catalytic process utilizing this catalytic system. This task is solved by preparing mechanical mixture of dimethyl ether hydration catalyst and steam methanol-conversion catalyst, the former being Si-Mo or P-Mo or W heteropolyacids or their Na, Mg, Cu. And Zn salts applied on silica or alumina in concentrations from 1 to 50 wt.%, and producing hydrogen-enriched gas mixture via interaction of dimethyl ether with water steam in presence of above-prepared catalyst. Proposed catalysts are appropriated for variation of their chemical formula within a wide range. Their use allows process temperature to be lowered and that at stoichiometric ratio of water to dimethyl ether, which is of importance for chemical process.
