FIELD: powder metallurgy, more particularly manufacture of contact plates of electric transport electric rolling stock. SUBSTANCE: in first embodiment, contact plates are prepared by molding them from blend comprising sulfur, copper, nickel and iron by treatment under pressure, sintering and impregnation with alloy comprising lead, tin and zinc. Powder material comprises, wt %: copper, 9.75-12.2; nickel, 0.6-0.9; lead, 18.0-25.0; tin, 0.3-1.2; sulfur, 0.4-1.2; zinc, 0.02-0.03; and iron, the balance. In second embodiment, blend comprises copper, nickel, sulfur, phosphorus, carbon, steel and iron. After sintering, plates are fixed to steel band impregnated with alloy comprising lead, tin and zinc to prepare plates made of material comprising, wt %: copper, sulfur, 0.34-0.8; zinc, 0.03-0.048; phosphorus, 0.14- 0.22; carbon, 0.24-0.34; steel, 3.8-7.5; and iron, the balance.
