FIELD: metallic coatings. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical gilding of metal surfaces for use in microelectronics, jewelry technics, etc. Potassium cyanoaurate is dissolved in saturated solution of Trylon B with added metal hydroxide capable of forming with cyanide double complexes of the type KmM(CN)n where M is metal, m=1,2,3, and n=2,4,6, amount of said hydroxide corresponding to at least 1/4 mole per 1 mole of potassium cyanoaurate, after which demineralized water is added to achieve working concentrations. Such solution enables formation of poreless gold coatings 0.05-0.08 mcm thick. EFFECT: improved quality of gold coatings. 1 tbl
