FIELD: optical systems. SUBSTANCE: gear suppressing beam of zero diffraction order has plate made of birefrigent material illuminated by specified beam and by diffracted beam emerging from hologram. This plate is so arranged and has such dimensions that one of beams comes out of plate experiencing no appreciable rotation of its polarization plane as polarization plane of the other beam turns through 90 degrees. Gear also includes polarizer illuminated by two beams which emerge from birefrigent plate. Plane of maximum transmission of polarizer is parallel to polarization plane of diffracted beam after its passage through birefrigent plate. EFFECT: reduced overall dimensions of gear. 9 cl, 3 dwg
