FIELD: metallurgy; sintering of sinter burden in production of sinter cake for blast-furnace smelting. SUBSTANCE: method includes charging the burden on travelling fire grate, forming longitudinal flues inside layer, ignition of burden and forming rarefaction under fire grate. Clues are non- rectilinear along length of fire grate in horizontal plane. Method is realized with the aid of sintering machine provided with charging device, movable fire grate with beads, ignition hearth and rods located above fire grate along its beads. At one end rods are secured on beam. Machine is provided with levers articulated on upper axles located on either side from beads of fire grate and drive mounted on base. Beam is articulated on levers. Rods are secured on beam by means of hinges; they are made in form of strips whose flat surface is directed towards surface of fire grate.
