FIELD: metallurgy, more specifically, processes of production of raw materials for blast-furnace process. SUBSTANCE: method of two-layer sintering of sinter burden includes successive supply onto moving cars of two layers of sinter burden of different thickness values, subsequent ignition and building up rarefaction under sintering cars. Prior to sintering of sinter burden, additionally determined is content of fraction less than 1 mm in each layer of burden; and preset ratio of burden layers thickness values is calculated by the following relationship: h/H = K.N/h, where H, h are thickness values of lower and upper layers of burden, respectively, mm; N, n are content values in sinter burden of fraction less than 1 mm in lower and upper layers, respectively, %; K is empirical dimensionless coefficient characterizing the rate of sintering of sinter burden in both layers equalling 0.4-2.8. EFFECT: higher stability and productivity of sintering of sinter burden, and increased strength of sinter and sinter yield. 1 tbl
