FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: method measuring velocities in moving medium is based on exclusion of velocity of propagation of sound in medium from measurement process by placement of sound radiator between two sound detectors in flow of medium, by conversion of received sound signals to electric signals and by determination of velocity of flow of medium and velocity of propagation of sound in medium according to which sound detectors are placed at base distances Do and Dn from radiator. Narrow pulses are formed at moments of transition of emitted and received signals through zero, delay times To and Tn between narrow pulses of emitted and received signals are measured, present values of velocity of flow of medium Vc= 0.5(Dn/Tn-Do/To) and velocity of propagation of sound in medium VS= 0.5(Dn/Tn+Do/To) are computed. EFFECT: universality of method applicable for wide range of fluid and gaseous media, possibility of use of present value of velocity of sound for more accurate measurement of mass flow rate of medium. 2 dwg
