FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves scanning every vertebral column segment by moving transducer first in sagittal plane in parallel to supraspinous and interspinous ligaments and then at an angle of 15 deg to spinous processes of the vertebral column in changing initial patient body position. Cervical segment is examined in sitting position when the patient moves the head in sagittal, horizontal and frontal planes. Thoracic and lumbar segments are examined in sitting, prone, lateral, standing and on-all-fours position when the patient moves in sagittal, horizontal and frontal planes. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of examination; enabled ultrasonic signal access to structures under study.
