FIELD: recovery of radioactive wastes by converting them into vitreous state. SUBSTANCE: method involves organizing starting radioactive glass melt in cooled metal induction melter, feeding radioactive charge to the latter until part of melter is filled up with glass melt followed by feeding radioactive charge mixed up with lumpy aluminosilicate material onto radioactive glass melt until working space of induction melter is filled up, and discharging glass melt through drain unit. EFFECT: enhanced capacity, reduced amount of volatile-radionuclide gases admitted to and discharged from melter.
